How do you know the standards you set reach your patients?
Your policies and standards only matter if they change what happens to patients. Pointer connects them to the practice on every ward and to the indicators that show whether patients are better for it. When a number moves, you can see why.
Internal quality audit, departmental audits, environment, health and safety, and Performance Indicators, on one platform.

what quality means
Quality is what patients value.
Patients want care that works, no preventable harm and a safe trip home. Every indicator you track points to one of these. An infection rate shows whether a patient was harmed. A length of stay shows whether they got home.
An indicator is a signal. It tells you whether your policies are followed, and whether that is good for the patient.
The US health system ranked No. 1 by Vizient for five years running tracks more than 800 quality metrics. Its chief quality officer says each one stands for something that happened to a patient. See the source at the bottom of the page.

the question
When an indicator moves, can you tell why?
An indicator tells you a number moved. It doesn't tell you what moved it, why, or how that reached the patient. For that, someone has to connect the dots: the indicator to the ward behind it, the ward to the practice that slipped, the practice to the standard it was meant to follow. Today that is done by hand, in a meeting, after the fact.

the answer
See the link from policy to patient.
Pointer connects the policy you set, the practice on every ward and the indicators that show whether patients are better for it. Start from any indicator and see the wards, audits and policy behind it.
Every department owns its part
Each department audits its own area and fixes its own findings. The quality team doesn't have to chase.
Behind this number
Standard ME 4.2.3 · falls assessment audits, this quarter
Every number has a trail
From a red indicator, you can see which wards and audits are behind it.
Every ward held to the same standard
An average can look fine while one ward falls short, and patients don't meet the average. They meet one ward. So every ward gets the same process, the same checklist, the same scoring and the same follow-up, standardised across every hospital in a network.

faq
Questions quality teams ask
How do indicators connect to audits? +
Indicators can draw on your SafetyOS audit data as well as your EMR or spreadsheet uploads, so a practice indicator and the outcome it should move sit side by side.
Which standards does Pointer support? +
International, national and even homegrown accreditation standards, ISO, or any standard you bring yourself. If a requirement can be checked with an audit checklist, Pointer can map it. Requirements that rely on documents or interviews aren't covered.
Can each department use its own checklists? +
Yes. Start from the library and adapt it, or build your own.
Do we need integration? +
Not for audits or safety checks. Indicators can use spreadsheet uploads, SafetyOS data or your EMR.
Can we start with one product? +
Yes. Many hospitals start with departmental audits and add the rest.
How is it priced? +
As an annual subscription. We'll give you an exact quote for your hospital.
